Abstract

James F. Coakley joined Northwestern University's theatre faculty as Assistant Professor of Theatre in 1971.  The James F. Coakley Papers, spanning the years from 1960 through 1993, comprise three boxes and are arranged in seven sub-series: biographical materials, education, scripts, publications, research, correspondence, and scrapbooks.

Abstract Late in 1983, Linda Walsh Jenkins, Associate Professor of Theatre, proposed an expansion of the current Ph.D program in Theatre to one in Theatre and Drama. This was approved in 1984 and an Executive Committee, Core Faculty and Faculty Associates were established. Critera for admission of students were developed.
